Abe AI Sync handles your AI-chat content only to save it as local Markdown and generate navigation files in a folder you choose. Conversation content is not sent to the developer, an advertising or analytics provider, or a publisher-operated server.
The extension stores exported files and limited operational information locally on your device, as described below.
Abe AI Sync works on these supported websites:

The information handled may include conversation titles, messages, identifiers, timestamps, source URLs, attachments, generated files, artifacts, citations, generated-image URLs, project instructions, and project document text. Availability varies by provider and by the options you enable.
The extension uses your existing signed-in browser session to request your conversations from the same provider. It does not ask for or store your provider password. Authentication information needed for a same-provider request is used temporarily and is not included in exported files.
Abe AI Sync uses the information only to:
The information is not used for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, model training, or any purpose unrelated to the extension's user-facing chat-export and local-memory features.
Conversation exports and generated navigation pages are written under AI Chats/ in the folder you select. Chrome's folder picker grants the extension read/write access to the selected folder. The current version uses that access to create and update its own exported files and to remove obsolete topic-hub files generated by the extension. It does not scan unrelated files in your vault.
The extension cannot access folders outside the folder you select through the picker. You can revoke the folder permission or choose a different folder.
Abe AI Sync keeps limited operational information on your device, including:
Full conversation message bodies are not copied into Chrome's local extension storage; they are written to the folder you selected.
Abe AI Sync makes HTTPS requests only to the supported AI provider whose content is being saved, using your existing signed-in browser session. A full-history backup may request multiple conversations from that same provider even when they are not individually open.
This version does not operate a cloud server. It does not transmit conversation content, vault contents, folder handles, or operational metadata anywhere, and it does not load remote code.
One exception, and it is the only one. When you activate a licence bought through Lemon Squeezy, the extension sends that licence key to api.lemonsqueezy.com to confirm it is genuine, and rechecks it roughly weekly so that refunds and revocations take effect. That request carries the licence key and a device label such as “Abe AI Sync on Mac” — and nothing else. No conversation content, no titles, no file paths, and nothing about your vault is included. Licence keys issued directly by us are verified on your own machine and make no request at all.
Extension pages declare a Content Security Policy whose connect-src permits that single licence endpoint and nothing else, so Chrome blocks every other outbound connection from them at the browser level. Provider requests are made only from the relevant provider's content script and are limited by the manifest's host permissions. The free edition ships no licence code and keeps connect-src 'none'.
No user information is sold, rented, or shared with advertising networks, data brokers, analytics providers, or other third parties. The AI providers remain independent third parties and process your signed-in requests under their own terms and privacy policies.
If you separately use Obsidian Sync, cloud backup, or another folder-sync service, that service may copy files from your selected folder according to your settings and its own privacy policy. Abe AI Sync does not control those services.

Background sync is optional. You can disable it, change its interval, disable optional artifact/file/project export, remove a stored licence, change or revoke folder access, and delete exported files from your folder.
Chrome-managed local browser storage is normally removed when the extension is uninstalled. Uninstalling Abe AI Sync does not delete files already written to your selected folder. Deleting a conversation at an AI provider also does not automatically delete the corresponding local export.
Abe AI Sync cannot directly read conversations stored only inside the ChatGPT or Claude desktop applications. A desktop-originated conversation can be included only if the provider makes it available in the same account's web history. Temporary, incognito, or desktop-local sessions that do not appear in web history are not captured by this version.
Abe AI Sync uses user information only as necessary to provide and maintain its disclosed chat-export and local-memory features. The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
The extension limits access to the supported provider domains and the folder you explicitly select. Provider requests use HTTPS. Extension pages use a restrictive Content Security Policy and do not load remote scripts.
No software or local-storage method can be guaranteed completely secure. Avoid exporting confidential conversations unless you understand the risks of storing them as local files and of any separate synchronization service you configure.
Abe AI Sync is not directed to children under 13.
Material changes will be reflected in an updated policy and a revised date above. If a future version introduces publisher-operated servers or online licence validation, this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before that version is released.
